Vinyl Crackle is a print & video project based on an appreciation for vinyl records
About The Project
Over the past decade music distribution has become increasingly digital as a response to our ever increasing demand for convenience.
The digital revolution has made music from all corners of the world accessible in a way that just 20 years ago seemed unspeakable, presenting us with the gift of a seemingly unlimited supply of music at the touch of a button.
But whilst being presented with the gift of accessible music I’m of the opinion that we’ve simultaneously lost the experiences that come with acquiring music the old way.
My collection of digital music far outweighs my collection of tapes and vinyl yet the latter evoke far more poignant memories.More so than any other audio format I’ve collected vinyl often brings with it a story of how and when it was acquired.
The feeling of holding a limited piece of vinyl having impatiently awaited it’s release was at the root of this personal project and prompted me to ask others to share what vinyl means to them and how it’s been an influence.
